About Kagami Reiki

Mirror Reiki: A path of reflection, healing, and remembrance

Kagami Reiki means “Mirror Reiki.” The word kagami means “mirror” in Japanese.

Kagami Reiki is a contemplative Reiki path rooted in traditional Reiki practice, daily reflection, and sincere return. It uses the image of the mirror to help students understand what Reiki practice reveals.

The purpose of Kagami Reiki is not to become special or powerful. The purpose is to see clearly, practice sincerely, and return to the Great Bright Light already present within.

The Mirror, the Ink, and the Cloth

Kagami Reiki uses three simple images to help students understand practice: the Mirror, the Ink, and the Cloth

The Mirror

The Mirror represents original clarity. It is the heart-mind before it is obscured by worry, anger, fear, shame, grief, confusion, or self-clinging.

In Kagami Reiki, the student does not practice to create the mirror. The mirror is already present. Practice helps the student remember it.

The Ink

The Ink represents what obscures clarity. Ink may appear as worry, anger, fear, shame, grief, resentment, pride, confusion, or old patterns.

The ink is not hated or attacked. It is seen clearly and met with compassion. The student learns: this is present, but this is not the whole mirror.

The Cloth

The Cloth represents daily practice. The cloth includes the Reiki precepts, meditation, breath, gasshō, self-treatment, reiju, chanting, ethical conduct, journaling, and compassionate return.

The cloth does not scrape the mirror harshly. It wipes gently, patiently, and consistently.

Kagami Reiki teaches the student to see the ink, take up the cloth of practice, and remember that the mirror was never broken.

The Great Bright Light

In Kagami Reiki, the Great Bright Light points to the clarity, compassion, wisdom, and wholeness already present beneath the ink.

This light is not created by the teacher. It is not created by a certificate. It is not created by a special experience. It is remembered through practice.

When anger softens, the light is easier to recognize.
When worry settles, the light is easier to recognize.
When gratitude returns, the light is easier to recognize.
When compassion becomes possible again, the light is easier to recognize.

Kagami Reiki does not teach that the student is broken and must become something else. It teaches that the mirror is already present, even when obscured.

The practice is to return.

The Great Bright Light is not somewhere else. It is remembered here — through breath, hands, precepts, compassion, and daily practice.

Fudōshin

Fudōshin means the steady, unmoving heart-mind.

In Kagami Reiki, Fudōshin does not mean becoming cold, rigid, or emotionless. It means learning to remain present without being completely carried away by fear, anger, worry, or confusion.

A student develops Fudōshin through steady practice: the Reiki precepts, breath, meditation, self-treatment, reflection, and compassionate return.

When life becomes difficult, Fudōshin helps the student pause.

Breathe.

Remember.

Return.

Fudōshin is not suppression. It is stability with compassion. It is the ability to stay connected to the mirror even when the ink is strong.

Kagami Reiki is traditional in foundation, reflective in method, and practical in daily life.

Begin the Path

Kagami Reiki begins with practice.

Students who are new to Kagami Reiki are encouraged to begin with Shoden, the first level of training. Shoden introduces the foundations of Reiki practice: the precepts, meditation, breath, gasshō, self-treatment, ethical treatment of others, reiju, and daily reflection.

For those not ready for training, Kagami Reiki sessions, distance Reiki, chanting/mantra practice, and consultations are also available.

The path begins simply:

Practice.
Reflect.
Return.
